* PAVEXpress download link provides freeware version of the software. Spreadsheet has separate sheets: (a) for determining: accumulated traffic loadings seasonally adjusted k values adjusted k-value for fill and/or depth to rigid. Some of the pavement thickness design parameters required for the design of a rigid pavement differ from those for a flexible pavement. The programs can be accessed through the respective websites of the paving associations. Rigid Pavement Design Software: What It Is. Each of the paving associations provides software programs for calculating pavement thickness. The education modules within PaveInstruct correlate with the design modules in PaveXpress and provide technically sound pavement design and instruction. Based on Figure 3.6 in the 1993 AASHTO Guide for Design of Pavement Structures a Loss of Support 1.0 results in k eff 250. procedures of the 1998 AASHTO Supplement. RPD (Road Pavement Design) Software for verifying road flexible and semi-rigid pavements. PaveInstruct, a web-based education system, has been developed with video instruction by leading industry experts on the use of PaveXpress. One exercise was conducted by the Kansas Department of Transportation and the second was performed by Palmer Engineering. This method was improved in 1984 to include a wider range of design considerations and pavement types. There have been two independent verifications confirming PaveXpress calculates pavement designs consistent with the methodologies in AASHTO ’93 and ’98. The Portland Cement Association (PCA) developed a new rigid pavement design method published in 1966. Since its initial release, PaveXpress has expanded to help users design asphalt overlays, porous asphalt sections, and life cycle cost analyses. The designs included a range of subgrade conditions, as well as commercial aircraft with two, four, and six wheeled landing gear. For example, an existing pavement to be widened will be completely reconstructed within 15 yr. PaveXpress was designed to be an extension of AASHTO 93/98 and has been adopted by public agencies such as the Washington State Department of Transportation as an accepted tool to help assess, scope, and design pavements. Rigid and flexible aircraft pavement were designed using the software FAARFIELD v1.4, FAARFIELD v1.3, COMFAA (rigid only), and APSDS (flexible only). For rigid pavements, the initial pavement structure shall be designed and analyzed for a performance period of 30 yr. PaveXpress creates technically sound pavement structural designs for both asphalt and concrete pavements based on widely accepted industry standards from the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO). PaveXpress is a free web-based pavement design tool available for use by local agencies, engineers and architects who need a reliable way to quickly determine the necessary pavement thickness for a given section of roadway or project.
